Story about Vijunėlis.
Not far from river Nemunas right next to the lake there lived wealthy girl. One day this girl got married with the boy named Druskis Jonas.
Not too long after the marriage two daughters were born, one after another. One day from far away hansom young man came to the town. His name was Vijunėlis. He started dating one girl and her sister as well.
Since the sisters looked very much alike parents got concerned.
Parents built two different houses for daughters, in order to discern the double date. Soon enough the truth love between youngster foreigner and younger sister came out. Parents were not happy that younger sister was the chosen one so they forbade their relationship.
As soon as the youngster foreigner found out about the restrictions, – he left the town. Both sisters were crying, because both were in love with him. Since then every evening younger sister would come out to the lake and would call Vijunėlis’s name. The wind and the trees would accompany her song. If you would walk next to the lake at night you could still hear the song in the wind. That’s why people gave Vijūnėlis name to that lake.
